Harlow is a town and a local government district in Essex, England. It originated in the villages of Harlow, Great Parndon, Latton, Little Parndom and Netteswell merged after World War II, guided by a plan designed by Sir Frederick Gibberd in 1947.

Harlow has many nature reserves and parks, The Playhouse Theatre, shopping malls, museums, music venues and recreational and cultural activities. If you prefer your entertainment there is a multiplex cinema, theater and shopping complexes.

It is known to be England's oldest pedestrian areas in the city, and the first high-rise in the country, The Lawn in 1951, is now considered worthy of preservation. Many of the buildings that were erected in the 1950s, renovated after the concrete began to crack and there has been considerable renovation in the center.

There are plans to expand the town by building strong inward in the green belt.

Harlow Town FC play in the Isthmian League First Division.

It has been found stone increases from around 6000 BC by Parndon and a Roman mosaic floor in Temple Meads. The name comes from the Saxon Harlow here ("host") and hlaw ("hill"), suggesting that it was a gathering place for a Saxon tribe.
