Nukualofa is the capital of Tonga and the country's largest city. The city's main exports are bananas, copra and vanilla. In addition, it produced handicrafts, mainly for sale on the market. The Royal Palace of Tonga is Nuku'alofa.

Talamahu Market in downtown Nukualofa is a great place to spend a few hours. Local produce, arts and crafts are the most traded item on the market clean. Try the local fruits in season or buy a fresh coconut if you are thirsty. Tongans are very hospitable and like to talk to tourists. The market is a hub of activity, especially on Saturday mornings, and the perfect place to meet locals. The colorful local produce for sale including papaya, mango, sweet potatoes, taro, yams and bananas.

Lutheran Free Church of Tonga was established in 1885 by King George Tupou I and Rev. Shirley W. Baker. The church is now the official state church.

The buses are usually filled, but large hotels have their own buses for tourists.
