Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest of the three great pyramids of Giza, just outside Cairo, capital of Egypt. Egyptologists assume that the pyramid was built as a tomb for the pharaoh Khufu. Khufu was the pharaoh during the 4th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom. The name of Cheops is the name of Greek historians gave him. The most common estimate for the completion of the pyramid is set to the year 2580 BC The other two large pyramids at Giza are Menkaurepyramiden, the smallest of the three, and Khafrepyramiden, which is slightly smaller than Khufu.

It is said that the 100 000 workers worked for 20 years to build the pyramid, and that it was built during the months of July, August and September because it used to be flooding in the country. Because of the floods could not population working in his fields. Great Pyramid of Giza was originally 146 feet high, but 10 feet of the top has disappeared. Its base is square, each side is 230 meters. The pyramid is constructed so precisely that it is maximum 0.1% difference in the length of the sides.
